Patch: Navigation Bug and Graphical Issues
Patch notes:

  • Fixes navigation bug in which Goren would sometimes walk in an unintended direction
  • Resolves graphical issues on some NVIDIA GeForce videocards that caused crashes or corruption (such as the torn paper puzzle at the hotel room in the Lisa Stokes murder)

This Patch is for the North American version of Law & Order: Criminal Intent only.

ER PATCHES
Patch #2: ER Memory Leaks Patch
Patch notes:

  • Resolves several memory leak issues that resulted in large memory leaks
  • Resolves several memory leaks that caused gradual increase in memory usage during gameplay
  • Resolves issue with Athlon Thunderbird processors that would cause the game to crash on startup with an error, "External Exception C000001D."

This Patch is for the North American version of ER only.

ER Installation Patch
To resolve install issues that prevent progression past the End User License Agreement ("EULA"), please download and install the following font. The ER installer requires the Palatino Linotype font, which is a default Windows 2000/XP font. To reinstall the font, Open the Control Panel >> Fonts and drag and drop the "pala.ttf" file into the Fonts window.

Patch #1: ER General Bug Fixes
We have fixed several memory leak issues that were reserving system resources and caused the game to slow down after lengthy gameplay sessions or after repeatedly loading saved games.

Fixed:

  • Fixed rare crash during transition from ep4 to ep5
  • Fixed a bug that caused incorrect ambient audio sounds to play in the WR/Triage
  • Fixed a bug that caused ambient audio not to play until moving your character into a new room
  • Fixed a bug that caused non-player characters to intermittently "appear" invisible at the start of episodes
  • Fixed minor text errors in Episode "Greatest Snow on Earth"
  • Fixed a bug that sometimes caused character models to change appearance upon save/load
  • Adjusted timing of episode title cards
  • Fixed a bug that allowed multiple instances of the Setup.exe to run, giving the message, "Another Instance of this setup is already running"
  • Added correct system requirements to User Guide.pdf and Readme.txt
  • Updated readme.txt to indicate correct default paths
  • The icon for "Confidante/Lover" in the user guide is now consistent with what is in the game
  • Aligned the staff list with the character pictures in the User Guide

Improved: Performance issues

  • Fixed some memory leaks that caused performance issues after extended play sessions
  • Fixed some memory leaks that caused performance issues after loading saved games and also after returning from an extended pause

Note: If you are experiencing a black or white screen after the body discovery movie at the beginning of the game, or if you receive an error message at this point, this patch may resolve the problem.

LAW & ORDER I: Dead on the Money PATCHES
*Do not download these patches if you are playing Law & Order II*
Click on the appropriate version of the patch you want. Download the patch to your desktop, then unzip the files if you've downloaded a zipped version. Quit out of your game if you have it running. Double click on the .exe file to activate the patch. Then restart the game. Note: once you have activated the patch, you can throw away the downloaded patch files.

LAW & ORDER (DirectX 7 Patch): Unzipped version (6.6Mb) :: Zipped version (3.2Mb)

Note: If you are experiencing a black or white screen after the body discovery movie at the beginning of the game, or if you receive an error message at this point, this patch may resolve the problem. This patch will allow you to play with DirectX 7.0 or above.

Note: This patch will correct the game freezing when Laurie Russ is selected from the map for the second time.

Combat Medic Patches
COMBAT MEDIC: SPECIAL OPS (Error: "Unable to Load Actor reason 4"): CMpatch2

Note: This patch will fix the error message "unable to load Actor reason 4".
To Install: Click on the "CMpatch2" above. Download "CMpatch.exe" to your desktop. On your desktop, double click on "CMpatch.exe" to start the patch. After following the instructions, your game will be updated and you can start playing.

COMBAT MEDIC: SPECIAL OPS:(Script Error During Mission 9): PC version

Note: The Combat Medic CD needs to be in the drive while you update the game with the patch.
